The introduction of this branding has been delayed by the introduction of our new, revamped website. We are reluctant to publish the new site without the new color scheme and logos, and as a result will take the time to update the new website before publishing it.

We expect our new branding to be fully integrated in the new website and Racing Winds Blog by March 10, 2013.

August 7, 2012 (Annapolis, Maryland) - Today, Racing Winds Media introduced an updated version of  their 2012 factsheet, entitled Our World. The factsheet, which replaces a much-outdated version of the same, includes information about the organization, a company profile, recent projects, and descriptions of various charity works.

Racing Winds Media Fact Sheet (2012)

The website is more than 90% finished, though some specialized pages have yet to be transferred. This category includes the new Racing Winds Content Center, which will allow for the downloading of Racing Winds photo and video content by registered accountholders.

All data transfer is expected to be completed by the month’s end.

Our previous website was a start, but it was simply incapable of effectively showcasing what Racing Winds, as a company, aspires to do. Many of the major problems with the old website are fixed with this brand new website that was built from the ground up. We started over and didn’t transfer a single bit of code or framework from our previous website. This is the result.

The website is generally finished and you’ll find plenty of information about Racing Winds Media on here. Some sections of the website, such as our Winds in the World and Mediaroom pages, have yet to be set up. Don’t worry, though, because these sections are forthcoming.

Now, we’re going to profile some of the best new things about our website. Feel free to explore on your own, but we’re always here for guidance and support.

New Pages

We’ve introduced a portfolio page to our website, which (finally) gives a rundown of our most recent projects. The portfolio is filterable by skill or specialty, which should help narrow your search if you’re looking for something in particular. There’s also a site wide search field, so that you can easily find whatever you may be looking for.

RSS Newsroom

Gone are the days of PDF press releases. When we’ve got company news to share, we’ll post it in the Racing Winds Newsroom, which is an RSS-enabled portion of the website, meaning that you can view content in a feed reader or otherwise. You can also subscribe to Racing Winds news releases and get them delivered into your inbox as soon as they’re published.

Shorter URLs

Our old website had somewhat long URLs, which made sharing a bit of a fiasco. Now, things are simple and succinct. The Racing Winds homepage? Now accessible by typing racingwinds.com into your browser’s address bar … no more of this whole “www” stuff. Further, core Racing Winds pages are coded in the format racingwinds.com/pagename, instead of having a subdirectory. This isn’t a end-all be-all rule, though, so copy and paste carefully.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

The new Racing Winds website provides built-in support for viewing on iPads, iPhones, and other mobile devices. Fonts, text stylings, and other content features will all appear the same as they would if viewed using a computer. All of our content is coded in HTML5, meaning that no Flash components are required to view slideshows and more.

Unified Framework

One of the biggest complaints with our previous website was that headings, photos, and even simple paragraphs appeared differently between systems. On our text Macs running Safari, content appeared the way it was supposed to. But on other Macs running Safari, things got a little wonky. And don’t even get us started on Internet Explorer or Firefox. With our new site, content is built using a unified framework so that it appears the same on a wide range of systems and browsers.

What’s great about the new Racing Winds website is how compatible it is with mobile devices. On both the iPhone and iPad (the devices we tested), the site appears with only minimal changes. Fonts, photos, and HTML5 content works seamlessly across platforms.
